A deaf singer has wowed Simon Cowell after giving a flawless audition on America's Got Talent , removing her shoes and using the vibrations of the music to craft her performance.
Mandy Harvey, 29, received a standing ovation from an astounded Simon who pressed his Golden Buzzer after listening to her beautiful, self-penned song Try, and told her it was the most incredible thing he'd ever seen.
"I never think I'm going to be surprised or amazed by people and then you turn up," said Simon.
"Just the fact you are you, but it was your voice, your tone, that song was beautiful."
Mandy lost her hearing ten years ago when she was just 18 because of a connective tissue disorder that led her nerves to deteriorate.
She told Simon and the other AGT judges she'd been singing since the age of four, but after falling ill and losing her hearing, it took her some time to get back to her passion: "I left music after I lost my hearing then figured out how to get back into singing with music memory, using visual tuners and trusting my pitch."
Mandy removed her shoes before singing, explaining: "I am feeling the tempo and the beat through the floor."
She explained the meaning behind her song, Try, was "after I lost my hearing I gave up but I want to do more with my life than just give up."
"Good for you," said Simon.
